Gratitude Attitude

Recently I have been given some friendly and not so friendly reminders that I have been in a slump since I moved back. I didn't know that my unhappiness and bad attitude was effecting everyone else but I have really been trying to work on it lately. It's hard when life just doesn't work out the way we want or plan, but I think the thing I have been forgetting is that God still loves me, He has a plan for me and I just need to roll with the punches! (It's so easy to forget that sometimes!)

Here are 15 things that I am grateful for: (in no particular order)

1.) My Family--do they get much better than these guys?!
2.) The Gospel. Sometimes I wonder how everyone else deals with things without the knowledge that I have.
3.) Having a job. It may be part-time and it may not be my dream job but money is money and I am glad I have just a little bit.
4.) Hot showers.
5.) Spring
6.) Yard work! It is a great hobby and a wonderful way to fill up extra time!
7.) The Biggest Loser Workouts--also wonderful ways to get rid of stress!
8.) Technology like gmail chat, Skype and MSN messenger.
9.) Great friends--all of you have been great support and I don't know what I would do without your shoulders to cry on!
10.) My Ward Family. Not a Sunday passes without people who love me hugging me and cheering me on.
11.) My parents. I know I already said family, but they deserve their own line--for putting up with me in their home and helping me along the way.
12.) Having a full belly--I am blessed to have never really known what hunger is.
13.) My nephews also deserve a line to themselves because they are what keeps me going somedays!
14.) Life--it has its ups and downs but man, I'm sure glad I am in the middle of it!
15.) Pablo. Words don't describe how grateful I am for him and all that he does for me!

This made me choke up (i know, i'm such a wuss-ninny-crybaby) but i'm feeling like you these days... a little bit of a black cloud in everyone's sunny day... I need to take your example and find out what i'm truly grateful for. You're a great person and wonderful friend, keep your chin up!

Try not to worry about things. Keep your head up high, everything will get better. I know sometimes I've felt the same especially when Shawn doesn't have a job, but I also have to remind myself about the better days that are to come. This is only temporary. Soon you will be with Pablo and everything will be better. There are always our ups and downs. Try to make the best of everything. Let me know if you need anything.

Becki~ I think of you often and wonder how things are. I know what you mean about that attitude. I've felt off and on the same way. Hope things get better for you. Remember you are a great inspiration and example. Stay positive and good luck with things.

sorry about your rut. whenever i have a bad day, I think of you back when we lived in Quito and this particular instance: You were frustrated, your day hadn't gone well, you hadn't had a warm shower in a while, and you were tired. After a little venting about your day to Lindsay and I you said, "All I want to do is to get a hot shower and read my scriptures and go to bed. That will make me happy."
When my days are rough, I think of that sentence and prescribe myself a hot shower and some scripture study. I love how that's all you needed to make you feel better. It goes to show what meaning the scriptures have for you. Thanks for your example. Hang in there. Love you.

You are so great - I know I am not around you a lot but I am surprised you are even functioning - I would be so depressed so you just hang in there. Just remember that God gave you Pablo and when the time is right you will be together and although it's tough right now you have ETERNITY with him! It will be worth all the hassle to have him and start your lives together! Hang in there - you are a great example to me!

Isn't it crazy how easy it is for us to forget all that we are thankful for when times are on the rough side for us? It happens to all of us. I keep a gratitude journal...it can really help sometimes. Hope you are having happier days. How much longer are you two going to be apart?
